Models, male athelits sexiest professions: poll
By Joyanne Pursaga

It pays the rent but does it heat up your love life?
Apparently your job can affect your sex appeal, according to a new survey from FastLife.ca, a speed dating and singles service.

FastLife asked 400 of its male and female members whether 20 common professions were "sexy" to the opposite sex.
When it comes to male sexiness, it appears sports stars can play the field in more ways than one.

A full 78% of women rated male athletes sexy, followed by firemen with a 75% attraction approval rate.

But not even those deemed most alluring agreed entirely with the results.

"I kind of have mixed feelings about that," said Winnipeg Blue Bomber kicker Troy Westwood. "If they saw professional athletes in the showers, I can promise you the discrepancy between the sexy and non-sexy is quite large."

Westwood believes uniforms may be partly to credit for the athletic attraction.

TIGHT PANTS
"I suppose a female would take some form of enjoyment with football guys being in tight pants. And one of the benefits of being a professional athlete is you're probably in pretty good shape, which would help make you sexy," said Westwood.

"I feel sexy in my helmet and I've always been told I look sexy in it."

Firemen secured second place, indicating what a man wears does matter. On the flip side, every man surveyed said female models are sexy, and 96% found dancers hot.
The Winnipeg Sun's Miss SUNshine Larysa said her profession isn't as glamourous as men believe.

"Modelling falls into so many different categories: catalogue, print, promotional. I wouldn't classify all of those as super sexy. How many catalogues do you open and think, 'Wow, she's really hot. Check out that parka,' '' said Tobacco.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, women builders were voted sexy by 15% of men and male politicians appealed to 14% of women.

Tory leader Hugh McFadyen, who's been known to turn a few heads inside and out of the Manitoba Legislature, humbly agreed with the findings.

"It's often been said that politics is the last refuge for failed lawyers, and I guess we now know it's the last refuge for failed supermodels," said McFadyen.

The survey findings were a tough pill for Competitiveness Minister Scott Smith to swallow, considering he went from one of the sexiest professions -- a firefighter -- to one of the least. But he said politicians make up for their apparent lack of sex appeal with integrity.

"I don't know if I'd call politics a sexy profession, but it is an honourable one."
