Oscar Fever: Which leading man or lady would you choose?
Kiss, date, marry, even a one-night stand... all of this year's major Oscar nominees qualify, but who wins the votes?
If the 2007 Oscar winners were determined by dateability and marriage potential, Ryan Gosling would walk away with an armful of Oscars. A recent survey conducted by FastLife, the world's most stylish speed dating and singles lifestyle service, asked more than 500 of its male and female members to cast their ballots regarding which Oscar nominees for best actor and supporting actor they would most want to date, kiss, marry, have a one night stand with, and be friends with. The survey revealed that FastLife's female members ranked the cool Canuck atop several categories, according to.
"Our online poll produced some surprising and entertaining responses that reveal who will be the most anticipated actors walking down the red carpet," says Liv Judd, FastLife events manager. "As far as Canadian viewers are concerned, fellow citizen Ryan Gosling will keep girls glued to their screens, while Penelope Cruz is sure to cause jaws to drop among the guys."
1. Date, kiss and marry When asked which male actor they would most want to date, kiss, and marry, the majority of female FastLife members chose Mr. Gosling. The star of Half Nelson didn't need to twist any arms to solicit votes, particularly in the "marry" category, where he received whopping 58 percent of the votes (leaps ahead of the closest competitor Will Smith with 15%). In addition to his on-screen acting exposure, Gosling's kissing talents have been on public display; he and current girlfriend Rachel McAdams won best kiss at the 2005 MTV Movie Awards, which lent credibility to his smooching skills.
2. One-night stand Leonardo DiCaprio ranked a distant second (23%) to Mark Wahlberg (40%) when FastLife's female members chose their top man for "one-night stand". Leo recently remarked that he hated being "another piece of cute meat," following the huge success of Titanic, and our survey shows his wish is coming true. On the other hand, Wahlberg, who once played a well-endowed porn star in the film Boogie Nights, maintains his "meat" status.
3. Just friends When asked whom they'd most want to be friends with, the majority of males surveyed (28%) selected Judi Dench, followed closely by Meryl Streep (26%). Interestingly, both dignified ladies have been nominated for less than lovable roles; Dench plays a manipulative monster in Notes on a Scandal, while Streep shines in her role as a cut-throat fashionista in The Devil Wears Prada. In terms of female respondents, hunk-turned-likeable daddy Will Smith ran away with the top selection in the "friend" category, taking home 52 percent of the vote. Apparently, his fatherly character in The Pursuit of Happiness has earned him a place in the heart (not the loins) of FastLife's female respondents.
4. The world reVOLVES around Penelope Luscious Latina Penelope Cruz ranked first among male respondents in four of the five categories, including date, kiss, marry, and one-night stand. Certainly her seductive role in Volver helped cement her sexiness in the eyes of FastLife's male members. Not to be completely outdone, Kate Winslet ranked second in the kiss, marry, and one-night stand categories, proving her very "adult" status among respondents despite starring in the racy film deceptively entitled Little Children.
